If you’re pear-shaped, you’re blessed with a slender upper body and a little extra junk in the trunk. To cut down on the stress while searching for your wedding dress, keep the following tips in mind:
- Find a wedding dress with a bodice that shows off your bust, ribcage, and waist.
- Choose styles that fall into a gradually fuller skirt from your natural waist (where you are narrowest, generally above the belly button and below your last rib) or your ribcage.

- Keep an eye out for wedding gowns constructed from fabrics that don’t cling, such as silk dupioni, silk satin, taffeta, and mikado. These textiles will keep their shape better as you move, highlighting what you’ve got and providing balance where your figure needs it.
- Consider a wedding dress with straps. Spaghetti straps or a V-neck neckline (either as halter or as straps) will draw the eye up and play up a more lithe upper body.
- Try anything with a classic A-line and empire silhouette. They’ll look smashing, and both can be dressed up or dressed down to suit your style.
Happy Shopping!
