Wedding Words {Sonnet 116}

For a quick romance fix (or wedding ceremony reading inspiration), we present to you one of Shakespeare’s most famous sonnets, 116. You might remember it from English class or the super-swoony film featuring Kate Winslet, Emma Thompson, and Hugh Grant, Sense & Sensibility.

Either way, it’s a gorgeous sonnet that, once read, stays with you!

Bridal Shower Game Alternative

One of us here at Lea-Ann Belter has bridal showers on the brain. A sister is getting married, and she is trying to plan a fun, modern party.

The favors are almost chosen, as is the décor, but lately she’s been worrying about what sort of games guests might play that the bride-to-be would enjoy. When our intrepid planner stumbled across the idea of newlywed mad libs, she was so excited we thought she’d won fabulous shoes!

So, of course, we had to share her find with you. With room to be sweet, sassy or even a little racy, filling out these mad libs is sure to be as much fun as reading them. Plus, they’d be great made into a little book as a keepsake for the bride-to-be.

5 Fun Bridal Shower Alternatives

Planning a bridal shower but don’t want to go the traditional route? We’ve got four fun alternatives:

1. Yoga Class: Perfect for relaxing, yoga’s a huge favorite here at Lea-Ann Belter Bridal. Lots of studios will schedule a private class for groups, and afterwards everyone can head to a nearby café for a light lunch. If yoga’s not for the bride, you can substitute any kind of class – dance, pottery, cooking, flower arranging, cake decorating, knitting, etc.

2. Dinner and a Movie: Some theatres will schedule private screenings, but if not, buy tickets for the latest romantic comedy.

Sweet Mother-in-Law Gift

How do you do that?

With a thoughtful memento that has the staying power of an heirloom!

This handkerchief
embroidered with such a heartfelt thank you is an idea we had to pass on.

Wedding Reception Inspiration {Literary Love}

If you’re like us and love to read a book, spread the literary love on your wedding day!

Though it would be fun to go all out with a library theme, that’s not for everyone. Instead, try incorporating a few bookish touches into your own unique wedding day style, like bookmark save the dates, literary cuffs for bridesmaid gifts (and cufflinks for the guys), or a quotable out of town guest gift bag.

Cup Runneth Over {Mason Jar}

We’re just going to put it out there. We love mason jars. More than a few of us at Lea-Ann Belter have repurposed pasta sauce jars as glasses in college. We’ve yet to find a glass that feels better in our hands. When these model beverage containers became popular for weddings, well, it made our eco-conscious hearts sing.

Then we came across unspeakably cute bride and groom mason jars.

What we thought could not be improved upon has been! Not only are they a sweet way to save your seat, but you get to use them again after your wedding day!

Wedding Cake Alternative {Cake Balls}

Delicious as cupcakes but even more portable, we kind of love cake balls. Who can resist what you know is a tasty, moist cake coated in delectable icing?

One look at this cake ball cake by Brew Ha Ha and we were transfixed. The colors! The yummy thoughts that flew through our heads!

So, of course, we had to share.

Wedding Reception Ideas {Thank You}

On your wedding day, there is so much love in the air. All the people you care about are thrilled and wishing you happiness. You and your sweetie are filled with joy.

Tongue-tied by your own full heart, eloquently expressing how much those moments and the people sharing it mean to you can be a challenge.

Before your wedding day, write a few sentences thanking everyone for coming to celebrate and then display it where everyone will see. Of course, it won’t take the place of a warm hug, kiss and a sincere thank you, but it will feel wonderful to send the love right back to your guests!

Wedding Reception Table Games {Questions}

We’ve all been there. Seated at a wedding reception table where the only person you know is your date. Sure, you could make small talk (“So…how do you know the couple? Aren’t the flowers stunning?”), but that can sometimes be awkward.

Playful questions you could ask one another would be so much more fun. We came across this ice-breaker-disguised-as-reception-game and thought it was almost as good an idea as a second helping of cake!
